THE North West Migrants Forum has been presented with a cheque for over £2,000 following a sporting fundraiser organised by FinTrU.
Two teams from the finance company’s local TrUly Diverse Committee recently took to the pitch at Campsie to raise money for the Derry charity. Following a hard fought contest, Team City Factory ran out 5-2 winners against their colleagues from Team Carlisle House.
The biggest winner of the evening though was the North West Migrants Forum, with a total of £2,086 raised to support the organisation’s vital work promoting social and racial justice and supporting racialised, minoritised and diaspora communities across Northern Ireland.
Handing over the money, Herman D’Souza and Innocent Ike from FinTrU’s TrUly Diverse Committee, said, “At FinTrU we are committed to fostering an inclusive culture and supporting the communities in which we operate.
“The North West Migrants Forum plays a vital role in helping people from diverse backgrounds feel welcomed, supported and empowered, making it a cause that strongly aligns with our values.
“It was fantastic to see colleagues come together in support of this fundraiser. We are particularly grateful that the funds raised by employees were further amplified through support from the FinTrU Charity Fund, enabling us to make an even greater contribution to the important work carried out by the North West Migrants Forum.
“We are proud to support an organisation that promotes inclusion, equality and opportunity and we look forward to seeing the positive difference these funds will make within the local community.”

Mrs Barr said the money will be put to immediate use, helping individuals and families as they begin building their new lives in the Derry and Strabane area.
“Many of the people who come to us are starting over in a completely new community. They are learning how to navigate everyday life, attend important appointments, access healthcare, education, legal advice and other essential services, often while building new social networks and adapting to a new environment.
“There are times when practical support can make all the difference. Whether it is helping someone travel to an important appointment, providing assistance during their first few weeks, or responding to an unexpected crisis, organisations such as “North West Migrants Forum are there to offer a helping hand as people establish themselves and become active members of our community.
“The generosity of the team at FinTrU will help us continue providing timely and practical support that enables individuals and families to settle with dignity, confidence and independence.
“We also recognise that periods of community tension can have a significant impact on those who are new to Northern Ireland. This donation strengthens our ability to respond quickly when additional support is needed, while continuing our wider work to promote social cohesion, inclusion and good relations.
