The Celebrate Refugee Welcome in Derry-Londonderry event will take place on Sunday the 30th of April, 2017 from 4pm to 8pm.  The festival is a celebration of global cultures represented in our local community and Derry-Londonderry being one of the leading areas in NI to welcome refugees. The event will have a number of activities and demonstrations taking place including dance, intercultural food, drumming, music, fashion design and much more.

Some of the things that those coming along on the day will be able to do will include listening to Ulster Scots music, enjoying a line-up of fashion and tasting food from countries like Syria, Congo, Morrocco, India, Greece, and many more.

In the six weeks leading up to the event two workshops will be held: one teaching intercultural music and dance and the other teaching dress making. Those facilitating the workshops will be required to teach their skills to a group of up to 10 people from a variety of backgrounds.

The intercultural music and dance workshop will take two hours each week split over two sessions. The dressmaking workshop will take three hours each week split over two sessions.
