The Celebrate Refugee Welcome in Derry-Londonderry event 2017 will take place on Sunday the 30th of April, 2017 from 4pm until 8pm. The festival is a celebration of global cultures represented in our local community.
The event will have a number of activities and demonstrations taking place including dance, intercultural food, drumming, music, fashion design and much more.
Some of the things that those coming along on the day will be able to do will include listening to Ulster Scots music, and tasting food from countries like Congo, Syria, Greece and many more.
In the six weeks leading up to the event two workshops will be held: one teaching intercultural music and dance and the other teaching dress making. Those facilitating the workshops will be required to teach their skills to a group of up to 10 people from a variety of backgrounds.
The intercultural music and dance workshop will take two hours of workshops each week split over two sessions. The dressmaking workshop will take three hours of workshops each week split over two sessions.
