For the best part of two decades Hilda has been assisting migrants in Derry. Her hands-on approach began 18 years ago when she directly assisted Iranian families arriving in Derry. By befriending them, providing signposts to support organisations and inviting them into her home, she ensured a warm welcome and aided their settlement in the city. As both a dedicated English teacher and a compassionate volunteer community worker who works almost completely independently, Hilda Orr is driven solely by the desire to give the displaced the best welcome and support.
