Dr. Imani Strong is a social anthropologist and policy consultant whose work examines the intersections of race, bureaucracy, and economic justice in the United States. Her research explores how policies designed to address racial inequality are implemented and experienced by the communities they aim to serve, with particular attention to African American entrepreneurs and the administrators working within constrained bureaucratic systems to expand opportunity.
As Chief Operating Officer of Griffin & Strong, PC, an Atlanta-based law and policy consulting firm, Dr Strong leads teams of researchers and attorneys in delivering economic development and equitable procurement programmes to state and local government entities across the United States. Her operational expertise is grounded in her anthropological training, which she applies to stakeholder engagement, re-search management, people operations strategy, and organisational systems.
Dr Strong is a visiting fellow at the London School of Economics and Political Science, where she previously served as a research fellow. During her time at LSE, she taught legal anthropology and designed and delivered a course on decolonisation, race, and racism.
