DOZENS of young people registered to learn more about the work of North West Migrants Forum at this year’s Freshers’ Fest.

Hosted by the North West Regional College, Freshers’ Fest is an opportunity for students to learn of the school’s support services but also to find out more about organisations, activities and events taking place in the wider city community.

For the second year in a row the North West Migrants Forum set out its stall to inform students about the charity and the work it does. Over 30 young people stopped to chat and to add their names to the NWMF mailing list. Many also availed of the free merchandise bearing the Migrants Forum logo.

The charity’s Interim Manager Paul Sceeny said it was a great opportunity to showcase the organisation but also to cement further the strong links that already exist with the College.

Mr Sceeny said, “We greatly value our relationship with North West Regional College and have been pleased to support this year’s Freshers’ Week.

“There was a fantastic buzz at the Strand Road campus event where we were delighted to be able to reach out to so many international and other new students as they settle in to their courses.

“And judging by how few leaflets, pens and tote bags we had left by the end of the session there was no shortage of interest in the North West Migrants Forum and in finding out about the various ways to get involved with the charity.”
