THE Conflict Archive on the Internet (CAIN) has been archiving information about the conflict and peace process in Northern Ireland for almost 30 years.
This has tended to focus on political developments and wider issues relating to peace and social stability.
But CAIN’s new project seeks to understand what it was like to live through and after the conflict with a focus on ‘everyday’ experiences.
As part of its research, CAIN is holding a workshop in St Columb’s House next Thursday, September 26 from 1-3pm.
The clincher? Everyone who attends gets lunch and a free gift voucher!
Urging Derry’s migrant population to add its voice to the project, a spokesperson said, “We would like to collect stories and experiences that people associate with the idea of ‘home’. Home is a concept that is both inclusive of all communities and personal to the individual.
“The project is at an early stage and we are now seeking participants to join us for an exploratory and fun participative workshop to discuss the kind of themes, issues and experiences we should consider. This will help us ensure the new archive is reflective of the experiences of a broad range of voices and communities across Northern Ireland.”
The session will kick off with an informal lunch provided at St Columb’s House and Park at 1pm. The meeting will be finished by 3pm.
Travel expenses – public transport only – will be reimbursed for all participants and by way of thank you, an Amazon gift card will be given to all participants who attend on the day.
“The workshop will be filmed for research purposes so that our facilitator can engage easily with the groups and not have to write everything down in the moment,” added the spokesperson.
The session is limited to a maximum of 15 participants and all participants must register their attendance ahead of the session by emailing emma@courtneyconsulting.co.uk who will be facilitating on the day.
