FOYLE Jobs and Benefits Offices is rolling out a series of events which might be of use to our members.

The list includes:

USEL Drop In

Foyle Jobs & Benefits Office

Thursday 4th September

11am-1pm

A representative from USEL’s Empower programme will be available to discuss the Empower programme has been designed to help adults who are living with a disability or long-term health condition develop new skills and gain the confidence to get into the workplace.

Empower can offer support to:

•         Identify key strengths and areas where support is required

•         Search for work

•         Update CVs

•         Complete job applications

•         Improve interview skills

•         Build self-confidence

•         Gain qualifications

•         Gain work experience

•         Secure a job or get into self-employment

•         Stay in work

Derry & Strabane Cross Border Job Fair

Foyle Arena

Tuesday 9th September

11am-2pm

Find job opportunities, chat with local employers from various sectors and improve your employment prospects with practical advice and support.

Cedar Foundation

Wednesday 10th September

11am-12:30pm

Anna from Cedar’s SkillSET programme will be available to discuss the specialist employability programme, aimed at work preparation and training, and designed for people with disabilities or health conditions and are economically inactive.

If you have ASD, a disability or health condition and find it difficult to gain employment call in on the day to find out more.

Condition Management Programme Drop In

Foyle Jobs & Benefits Office

Tuesday 16th September

11am-1pm

Representatives from the Condition Management programme (CMP) will be in the office to discuss their voluntary programme which can offer up to 12 sessions with a health care professional.

CMP could help you if you have a health condition which affects your ability to work, return to work or to stay in work.

It offers help with dealing with stress and anxiety, managing low mood and depression, coping with pain and fatigue, developing a healthier lifestyle and exploring potential work options.

Please note potential participants must have an interest in progressing into/ remaining in work and participation on the programme is subject to eligibility criteria.

Childcare Costs Support Information Session

Women’s Centre Derry

Wednesday 17th September

10am-12pm

Information will be provided about on Universal Credit childcare costs and how to declare these as well as what help may be available with childcare for those in receipt of Universal Credit.

Land & Property Services Drop In

Thursday 18th September

11am-1pm

A representative from the Land & Property Services will be available to discuss how they can help with rates

If you need help to pay your rates, you may be eligible to apply for a rate relief scheme through Land & Property Services (LPS), such as:

  • Disabled Person’s Allowance
  • Lone Pensioner Allowance
  • Rating of Empty Homes
  • Rate Rebate

Now Group Drop In

Thursday 25th September

11am-12:30pm

A representative from the Now Group will be available to discuss the range of services they can offer to support people with learning difficulties and autism.

Their services focus on supporting people into employment, training, transition and volunteering.

They also offer a family service to support new and expectant parents with a learning difficulty or autism.
