Summary Job Advertisement for Community Liaison role:
The North West Migrants Forum is recruiting a Community Liaison Officer on a fixed term contract until July 2027.

Responsibilities:
The Community Liaison Officer (CLO) is responsible for implementing a strategic plan to advance the organisation’s mission, specifically its ‘New Beginnings: Building Pathways to a Shared Future’ project. They will advise the Chief Executive and Board of Directors on community issues, serving as a liaison on project activities, events, organisations, committees, stakeholders and facilitating proactive relationships between NWMF, Black and Minority Ethnic members (newly arrived and existing communities) and broader communities within the Derry City and Strabane District.
The CLO is also responsible for developing project evaluation criteria and conducts periodic surveys to assess programme efficacy. Based on analysis of formal and informal surveys, the CLO will develop and implement a range of programmes that meets the needs of NWMF members and service users.
The post will require the holder to:
Establish and maintain liaison with community groups, statutory agencies and schools across the North West, working with the Community Integration and Welfare Officer to facilitate programmes that support young people and their families.
The CLO’s main duties include:
- Community education liaison
- Information and resource management
- Guidance and referral
- Community liaison
- Events planning
Essential Criteria:
Education
Honours Degree (min. RQF Level 7 or NFQ Level 8) in Community Development or Social Work or a related field
Qualification (min. RQF Level 1 or NFQ Level 3) in Immigration Advice (desirable)
Qualification (min. RQF Level 3 or NFQ Level 5) in Welfare Advice (desirable)
Experience
- Two years’ experience (paid or unpaid) of providing advice – face to face or telephone – gained in the last four years
- One years’ experience (paid or unpaid) working with similar demographics to the people within Northern Ireland; particularly with those of a BME background gained in the last three years
- Implementing a strategy and advice service
- Working with local statutory and non-statutory organisations and local key stakeholders
- Delivery on active citizens/integration programmes
- Experience delivering interventions to both children and adults
Salary:
£17,340 Gross per Annum

Due to the specific requirements of this position, remote/hybrid working is not possible. Applicants should be prepared to work on-site at the North West Migrants Forum’s Derry office.
