WITH just days left until the our Advancing Race Equality Awards, we are getting questions about the evening itself.
Here is a short post which will hopefully answer any questions you may have:
What time do the awards start and finish? The awards start at 6pm with a drinks reception. We expect that proceedings will be done and dusted for 11pm.
Where are this year’s awards being held? The Ebrington Hotel. If you walk to the Peace Bridge from Derry’s city side you’ll see it in front of you. It’s also a five minute walk from the train station which is really handy.
Who is hosting the awards? Chantelle Lunt, councillor, activist, author and lecturer from Liverpool.
What should I wear? Traditionally it has been black tie but wear whatever you feel comfortable in, particularly if it is an outfit from your home country. The more colour the better! Here is a link to a video from last year’s event, it should give you an idea of what people usually go for: IMG_0289
Is there parking near the hotel? There is a large car park attached to The Ebrington Hotel. The best news? It’s free of charge!
Is there any special offer if I or we choose to stay overnight? The Ebrington Hotel is kindly offering rooms at the greatly reduced rate of £132, including breakfast, for anyone attending the Advancing Race Equality Awards.
Who judges the Advancing Race Equality Awards? While the awards are run by the North West Migrants Forum, the Forum has no say in who wins. That is down to a completely independent panel of judges whose names and faces you can find on our website.
Are there any tickets left and how much are they? There are some tickets left but not many. They cost £30 which includes a three-course meal and a great night out. You can book them here: Tickets – North West Migrants Forum
