North West Migrants Forum

This coming Monday we are hosting a discussion group which will examine our Health and Social Care services.

Discussion group will explore women’s experiences of Health and Social Care services

THIS Monday, November 11, the North West Migrants Forum is hosting a discussion group in collaboration with the Western Health and Social Care Trust which will examine our Health and Social Care services.

The engagement session is particularly targeted at women who are seeking international protection, the aim being to find out about their experiences of using Health and Social Care services.

The Department of Health, which is funding the programme, wants to capture service users’ views, to explore their experience of accessing Health and Social Care services, including the barriers and positive experiences.

This information will be shared with the Department of Health and used to identify opportunities to improve access to services.

Officials are seeking to engage with women to:

  • Hear about their experience of accessing Health and Social Care services for themselves and for their children, including working with nurses, health visitors, midwives, social workers and mental health support services.
  • Hear about the barriers people face in accessing Health and Social Care services.
  • Hear examples of positive experiences of accessing Health and Social Care services.
  • Listen to people’s suggestions on how to make Health and Social Care services more accessible.
The organisers of Monday’s engagement session want to hear about the experiences of women when it comes to accessing Health and Social Care services for themselves and for their children, including working with nurses, health visitors, midwives, social workers and mental health support services.

The session will be informal and it is an opportunity for people to share their thoughts and ideas around how to improve services for all people seeking international protection. The discussion will be confidential and no individual experiences or names will be shared in any follow-up report.

Interpreter services will also be provided to ensure that service users’ views and experiences are captured.

To be part of the conversation, come along to North West Migrants Forum on Monday, November 11 at 2pm. Tea and coffee will be provided.
