North West Migrants Forum Unified Summer learning programme  

This year NWMF provides adventurous summer experiences, including games, arts and crafts, Educational tours music, Recreational activities and sports for young people from migrant and refugee’s communities including their families. Meet new friends and enjoy weekly excursions such as canoe/kayaking games, arts and craft, picnics, educational trips, museums visit, family fun days and much more. Programme includes day camps, arts, physical activity, and more. We seek to provide young people with summer learning opportunities that combine academic intervention with engaging enrichment activities for days of extended learning. Multicultural Fun Day

The Rose Mount resource centre have kindly offered us a great opportunity to take part in their Multicultural fun day. The programming include face painting, Disney characters, BBQ, Balloon modelling, Bouncy castles, music dome and may more fun activities. The programme is open to all ages.  Activities begins at 11am however NWMF participants will assemble at the venue at 10.30am for briefing.

Migrant/Refugee summer learning experience a Trip to Ulster American Folk Park

The Ulster American Folk Park brings to life the world famous story of Irish emigration. You will be able to Follow the Irish emigrant trail as you journey from the thatched cottages of Ulster and Immerse yourself in the world famous story of Irish emigration. This will be a great opportunity to understand the history of the Irish people and draw in shared experiences. This activity is open to all young and old. We have 60 spaces to fill for both young people and adults. We would encourage family’s registrations for this event. Inclusive Recreation (canoe/kayaking)

This year NWMF is partnering with Foyle Paddlers to offer 3 sessions of canoe/kayaking for young people from the migrant and refugee community between ages 8-20 years old. This will be fun and a great learning experience for all. Cultural diversity workshops – Half Day Hub Model

We are partnering with the Play house to offer a half day summer

Programming for young people from early years right through to their 20s. They will receive a combination of intervention supports focused on English Language Arts taught by certificated arts teachers and enrichment cultural diversity activities provided by lead community arts and culture instructors. Physical activity and healthy snacks will also be provided. Parents are also welcome to join in the activities or just share coffee/tea with other parents indulging in informal chats. Basic instructions; We live in Northern Ireland where summer means rain, hill stones at time and a little sunshine. Remember you may need an umbrella and/or a rain coat. Rain or sunshine, summer is here and we’ve got to enjoy it!  

Summer scheme is open to young people from all communities living in the North West region of Northern Ireland. Places are very limited.For events that begins after the 12th of July 2016, only those registered by the 15th of July 2016 @ 14:00 will be allowed to take part.

For young people between the ages of 11 and 16 years parental consent will be required. A parental consent form can be acced at our website onwww.nwmf.org.uk  or a copy can be collected at our offices at 25C William Street, Londonderry, Northern Ireland, BT48 6EP,  Monday to Friday between 9.00am – 5.00pm
